A three-phase diode rectifier converts a three-phase AC voltage at the input to a DC voltage at the output. To show the working principle of the circuit the source and load inductances (Ls and Ld) are neglected for simplicity.

The output current in the load contain very less ac component as compared to single phase rectifier. Ripple factor is lower and therefore high cost filtering is not required to give steady dc output. A 3-phase full-wave rectifier is obtained by using two half-wave rectifier circuits.
